One of the prevailing subjects as the new College Football Playoff expansion format sits on the horizon: getting rid of divisions in conferences. In the Mountain West, I’d take it one step further—eliminate the Mountain West championship game.
The 2021 Face of the Broncos
Everywhere you look these days, senior nickel Kekaula Kaniho is representing Boise State—and representing well. At the beginning of the week, Kaniho was named to the All-District 7 Academic Team for the second straight year.
A non-BCS kind of limelight
Truth be told, the Group of 5’s national visibility has faded drastically in the years since the College Football Playoff debuted in 2014. Those who wondered why the CFP was an upgrade over the BCS system never got that question answered.
Would BYU ever make a move?
Prater & The Ballgame spent a considerable amount of time on this subject Monday on KTIK, so I thought I’d weigh in. Is it time for BYU to return to the Mountain West now that there is no clear path to the College Football Playoff (if the proposed 12-team format sticks)?
AAC keeps pushing for ‘P6’
Is there a scenario under the proposed College Football Playoff expansion that would keep a Group of 5 team from making the field? Maybe—if the Group of 5 becomes the Group of 4.
The favorite son is on the ballot
There are 78 FBS players on the ballot, so anything can happen. But all is not right with the world if Kellen Moore is not elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.
A reasonable over/under
DraftKings has released its projected 2021 win totals for the FBS, and the over/under for Boise State is 9. What do you think?
The counselor and the kid
What did you do for Memorial Day weekend? Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier was a camp counselor, and one of his possible successors, Broncos commit Katin Houser, was a camper.
TV’s big ones are the home runs
You could say that this is already Boise State’s best football TV schedule in school history. That’s based on the fact that 2021 will mark the first time the Broncos have ever landed two regular season games on a major network (CBS).
100 days, with an asterisk
The CBS Mountain West schedule was unveiled Wednesday. Fox is still to come today, as is any ESPN plan to move the opener at UCF in September to Thursday.
